Abstract :
A tree-structured wavelet transform has previously been developed and used for texture classification by the authors. The transform is able to zoom into dominant frequency channels containing significant texture information for further wavelet decomposition, and can be interpreted as the decomposition of a 2-D function with the wavelet packet basis function. The texture segmentation problem is addressed here. A texture segmentation algorithm based on the tree-structured wavelet transform and a hierarchical fuzzy clustering technique is proposed. Numerical experimental results are given
