Abstract
Moments associated with functions that are the Fourier transform or Fourier series of time-domain signals are studied in order to determine what happens to the frequency spread of a transmitted signal after it has been reflected from an object undergoing nonuniform motion. The example of a sinusoidal wave reflected from an object undergoing constant acceleration is considered. It appears that analytic expressions for moments of finite-time signals that are given by well-behaved sums are also applicable to this waveform
