Title :
New trends in SMD pick-and-place machines put high demands on vision systems
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The author summarizes the requirements of pick-and-place machines and vision systems, and discusses how the ICOS new generation of vision systems, the MVS series, is able to fulfil these needs. He analyzes the functions of a vision system on a pick-and-place machine, defines the major demands of each function, and compares them with the MVS specifications. The next step is to analyze how the different pick-and-place handling systems add specific requirements and what MVS has to offer to fulfil these requirements. The MVS block diagram is presented, and its interfacing capabilities are discussed
