Abstract :
This paper provides the complete progresses of designing, simulating and constructing of a wireless power transfer (WPT) system. Moreover, investigations on the transmission efficiency for different magnetic materials under varying operating frequencies in the designed wireless power transfer system were conducted. After building a contactless power transfer system with a large inductor as a current source, a set of magnet cores with similar specifications but different sizes were applied to the system. Then, the operating frequency varied from 10 KHz to 140 KHz. The voltage and current of the primary and second side of the WPT system were measured by voltage and current probes. Thus, power and transmission efficiency against varying operating frequencies for different magnetic materials were obtained and analyzed. It showed that within the selected range of switching frequency, the efficiency of the system is proportional to the frequency and increasing with operating frequency. Additionally, among four selected magnetic material, the ferrite has the best performance.
