Abstract
It is shown that the power factor in the offline power supplies consisting of current driven resonant converters can be much improved by using the proper control techniques. Thus, there is no need to use power factor correction circuits, resulting in simpler converter circuits and lower cost. The current-driven series-resonant converter is used as an example in order to present an analytical procedure from which the power factor can be optimized
