Abstract :
A survey is presented of the performance and applications of the switched reluctance motor (SRM), permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), brushless DC motor (BDCM), and induction motor (IM) drives. They are compared and characterized in terms of various performance criteria: motor design, controller circuit, performance characteristics, and applications. Several AC motor drives are taken as examples to provide useful guidelines for comparing different AC motor drives
