Abstract :
The performance of two distance based forward link power control schemes (nth-power-of-distance and optimum power control schemes) are evaluated for high altitude platform station (HAPS) W-CDMA systems. Results show that the power control schemes perform favorably and are able to provide capacity gains of at least 1.86 times as compared to the case without power control. The practical system performance when power control is applied in finite step sizes is also determined via simulation
