Abstract :
Recently, a two-dimensional periodic array of vertically placed microstrip lines has been proposed for a number of useful applications. We analyze this array using an efficient full-wave mode-matching method. Our analysis comprises two parts. First, the propagation characteristics of the two-dimensional array are investigated by solving a unit-cell of this structure, which is subjected to a periodic phase shift. In second part, the air-to-array discontinuity is solved using Floquet modes in the air-region. Results of our full-wave analysis are in an excellent agreement with those obtained from CST Microwave Studio.
