Abstract
Navigation is an essential requirement of our daily life and smart phones are widely used as a navigation aid nowadays. Most of the smart phones provide a navigation application for outdoor locations using GPS unit of the smart phone. But providing an accurate navigation inside a closed building remains still a challenge. Indoor navigation using smart phones can be achieved through various approaches, with each having its own advantages and disadvantages. This paper discusses various approaches for indoor navigation using mobile and identifies critical parameters which affects the navigation inside a closed building. It also brings awareness to choose the suitable navigation method depending on these parameters.
