Abstract
PROTECTtrade is an early-warning crisis management system for chemical attacks in high-threat infrastructures such as subways, transportation terminals, buildings, and airports. Current systems in NYC, Washington DC and Boston have been operated by the facility managers for the past several years. This paper presents some of the improvements made to the chemical detection system to (a) attain a very low detector false positive rate, (b) add new monitoring capabilities, and (c) reduce the cost of installation and maintenance. Ongoing work includes the addition of a wide range of detection devices and extension to biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive detection.
