Abstract :
Rank Indicator(RI) defined in Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems enables appropriate layers for spatial multiplexing streams in transmission. The RI calculation method is investigated based on reference signal (RS) channels and a novel RI calculation method is presented with low computational complexity by sampling RS channels. Compared to the optimal RI calculation method which indicated by full RS channels, the proposed method can achieve the near performance, while, the complexity for proposed method can be reduced linearly with the sampling granularity. Simulation results are shown to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
