Abstract :
With increased power demand and the complexity of power systems, the Australian electricity market needs to undertake a series of changes and updates, including power system deregulation, allowing independent power producers (IPPs) to enter the market. One of the current systems that needs to be updated is the spot pricing system, which involves the application of slack bus independent distribution factors. This paper investigates the feasibility and performance of Slack bus distribution factors on large complex systems. Generalized Generator Distribution Factors (GGDFs) and Generalized Load Distribution Factors (GLDFs) were chosen to be used as the Slack bus independent distribution factors and various tests have been performed on both MatLab and PSS/E to verify their properties. The results indicate that these distribution factors can be used on extremely large systems and generate considerably accurate results.
