Abstract
OFDM based on cyclic prefix (CP) or zero-padding (ZP) is suitable for wireless communications due to its suppression of the multipath fading and resistance to inter-symbol interference (ISI). However, it does not make the simple FFT-based receiver perform well. ISI can be further suppressed by the pseudorandom sequence processing technique which changes the correlation properties of the IFFT matrix [P. D. Papadimitriou et al. (2004)]. This paper analyses this technique theoretically and applies to CP-OFDM, ZP-OFDM, ZP-OFDM-OLA and ZP-OFDM-FAST. Simulation results verify the large gains in the coded performance of the modified methods using this technique, compared to the conventional methods.
