Abstract :
This paper focusses on the network-layer interface to the physical layer of the second generation standard for DVB over satellite, DVB-S2. It considers the transport of IP data using both an MPEG-2 transport stream, and the continuous generic stream. It highlights design issues, leading to a new proposed encapsulation method that improves efficiency by reducing protocol overhead while providing strong network-layer support
