Abstract :
In this paper, a new methodology for receiver dimensioning in duplex FDD systems is addressed. The specification of the receiver are derived from test cases defined by the radio communication standard. Such tests may involve a relatively high number of modulated passband signals and nonlinear effects of the receiver on these signals cannot be precisely evaluated with classical equations generally used for CW signals. A novel simulation approach for a precise specification of the receiver is presented here. Different kinds of interfering phenomena encountered in FDD receivers are illustrated and quantified. Simulations are carried out on a direct conversion UMTS receiver and the compromise between linearity and RF filtering is highlighted.
