Abstract :
Internet is becoming more and more heavily used network for transferring large data and remote site computation results. As the use of Internet is growing, so is its traffic. The current TCP deployment doesn´t scale well in high bandwidth delay product networks. In this paper I have studied the pitfalls in existing TCP and then studied different improvement like XCP (eXclusive control protocol) and MS-TCP (high speed TCP) P-TCP (parallel TCP), S-TCP (scalable TCP) and FAST-TCP try to compare pros and cons of these advancements of TCP.
