Abstract :
This thesis investigates the performance of serially concatenated convolutional coded minimum shift keying (MSK) system when the receiver employs iterative decoding and demodulation. Since MSK system can be decomposed into a continuous-phase decoder (CPE) and memoryless mapper (MM), it can be used as an inner code combined with interleaved convolutional codes. Simulation results show that the interleaver should be chosen carefully, and with pseudorandom interleaver, joint iterations between the MSK demodulator and the convlutional decoder can improve the performance remarkably. However, with more powerful outer convoltional codes, the system does not perform better.
