Abstract :
Fiber loss and nonlinear effect are the main important factors for high-speed coherent communication. A novel communication fiber with ultra-low loss (0.165dB/km) & large effective area (about 110μm2) at 1550nm wavelength is proposed. Compared to the conventional single-mode fiber, it can contribute more benefits for high speed large capacity communication system. Its optical characteristics are discussed here, including splicing, macrobending and cabling performance.
