Abstract
Discusses how London Transport (LT) has been developing a real-time information system as part of its passenger information at bus stops (PIBS) project, which aims to provide passengers waiting at stops with accurate, consistent and reliable information about the arrival of buses. A demonstration trial, marketed as `Countdown´, is being conducted on Route 18 to study technical feasibility and the effect on passengers and revenue, and 50 stops along the route have been fitted with electronic signs
