Abstract :
In order to illuminate a uniform field at a target area in an anechoic chamber over a wide frequency range, a 4-wire antenna is proposed. This antenna consists of two V-antennas spreading away from each other from the feed point. Antenna parameters are determined for a given dimension of the anechoic chamber. Numerical analysis shows that the 4-wire antenna has broadband characteristics from 100 MHz to over 1 GHz when a proper resistance tapper is applied at the ends of wires. The maximum upper frequency limit has not yet been determined. The field distribution illuminated by the antenna in the 4-foot-diameter sphere target area is uniform within +or-0.5 dB for optical geometry and +or-1 dB for symmetrical geometry of the antenna.<>
