A low cost EMC test system using the `Golden Product´ test method

As a result of the introduction of the EMC Directive and subsequent United Kingdom EMC Regulation in 28th October 1992, there is currently much interest in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing methods, and in particular low-cost methods of EMC pre-compliance and production line testing. The paper describes a method for low cost EMC testing using the so-called `Golden Product´ test method first proposed by Williams (1992,1993). The present paper provides a review of the work previously carried out and expands on it to incorporate practical implementations of other aspects of EMC testing. The equipment requirements are also discussed, together with the main uses for this test method
