Abstract
For high speed imaging applications an active pixel sensor (APS) with a resolution of 256/spl times/256 pixel has been integrated in 0.5 /spl mu/m CMOS technology. The rectangular pixels create a chessboard like distribution of photosensitive sites throughout the imaging array with a fill factor of 42%. On chip frequencies were reduced by allowing time interleaved addressing and signal output through 16 analog channels. At 3.3 V supply voltage the sensor acquires more than 5000 pictures/sec with 60 dB dynamic range.
