Abstract :
This paper reports on experimental investigations dealing with the influence of carbon particles on the flashover voltage of the interface between epoxy resin rods and mineral based transformer oil in a homogeneous as well as in an inhomogeneous electrode configuration. The obtained results reveal that In an uniform field the flashover voltage under carbonized oil for long gap distances is slightly higher than under new oil. In case of a non-uniform electrode arrangement an increase of the carbon content is combined with a significant improvement of the breakdown and the flashover voltage
