Abstract :
An artificial neural network-based circuit design automator (CDA) and a fuzzy-set-based database are proposed to assist in the design of power electronic circuits. The CDA is capable of carrying out a preliminary, approximate circuit design prior to the use of circuit simulation, thus reducing the total design time. Snubber design has been carried out for two cases to demonstrate system performance. A fuzzy database has also been developed which contains fuzzy, nonfuzzy, and alphabetical records to bridge the gap, when searching for components, between the results obtained from circuit simulation and the data provided by manufacturers. The records in the database can be retrieved either fuzzily or exactly
