Abstract
In the last years, the renewable energy sources were highly interconnected to the power systems, stimulated by support schemes like green certificates and current European regulations. Their impact on power quality is becoming important, as the power system must absorb these perturbations depending on the fault level at the point of common coupling. The present paper presents the status of renewable energy share in the total production and the regulations that must be fulfilled by the participants for interconnecting to the electrical grid. Voltage fluctuations and harmonics generated by wind turbines and photovoltaic plants are discussed.
