Abstract :
A block coded modulation (BCM) scheme employing two-dimensional (2D) product codes, constructed from single parity check (SPC) sub-codes is described. A procedure for mapping encoded sequences to M-PSK signals and decoding using a compact trellis diagram are presented. Performance analysis parameters, such as information bit transmission rate, symbol rates, and coding gains are determined. It´s shown that the proposed BCM technique can provide 2-3 dB coding gains.
