Abstract :
The application of innovative sheet-metal fabrication and automated assembly technologies in GE´s ED&C production operations is reviewed. Specific attention focused is on the integration of workcell control systems, equipment productivity levels, and process-quality controls. The result of establishing integrated systems has permitted improved customer service from the initial proposition phase of an order to short-cycle delivery of product to precise customer specifications delivery from a sophisticated CIM (computer-integrated manufacturing) manufacturing center
