Abstract :
Space time transmit diversity (STTD) was selected as the open loop transmit diversity technique for the 3GPP FDD mode and can be applied to most FDD downlink physical channels. However, implementation of STTD in conjunction with multiuser detection (MUD) receivers presents high computational requirements to the mobile station. This paper introduces a novel STTD implementation that allows development of lower complexity MUD receivers. This scheme is the standardized 3GPP TDD mode open loop transmit diversity scheme for the P-CCPCH (primary common control physical channel)
