  • Abstract
A new dynamic routing protocol is proposed in order to reduce burst blocking probability and to increase link efficiency in optical burst switching networks. The protocol distributes wavelength occupation information using binary vectors. Each node merges the information that it receives with its own information. Thus, the nodes can make intelligent decisions on how to allocate burst transmissions. To take full advantage of wavelength occupation knowledge, it is necessary to make sure that a node has the relevant information updated to schedule a new burst transmission. Therefore, a dynamic window offset assignment mechanism is proposed in order to assure it. Simulations validate the protocol performance.
