Abstract :
Ranging and geolocation with impulse radio- ultrawideband (IR-UWB) systems can be achieved by estimation of the time-of-arrival (TOA) of a received signal. Certain channel parameters may have significant impact on the TOA estimation accuracy. In this paper, a generic list of such parameters is presented and their statistics are obtained through computer simulations using IEEE 802.15.4a channel models. The effects of different channel environments and receiver structures on the statistics are investigated.
