Abstract :
The most serious limitations for long distance systems are Gordon-Haus jitter and soliton-soliton interactions. In line filters, in particular with sliding central frequencies, have been proposed as a suitable remedy for these limitations. However, this not only increases the component requirements but may also affect the system reliability. A review is presented of in-line and post-propagation processing for the reduction of these two major limitations
