Abstract :
The authors discuss experiments in which the optical clock recovery technique combined with a non-linear loop mirror modulator to perform all-optical regeneration. When a noisy data stream with timing jitter passes through the device, the device generates a noise-free, low jitter representation of the original data. The authors describe how the device can be used to extend the bit-rate and span of soliton systems and discuss applications in network architectures
