Abstract
Different surface roughnesses of electrodes were employed to study their influence on the surface charge accumulation in GIS. It is found that substantial charge accumulates when the surface roughness is 15 μm though it is not significant at 0.5 μm. Most resulted surface charge is negative. However, charge of both polarities is detected with protrusions
