R&D plays an important role in the innovation process which is increasingly vital to current and future profits for high technology firms. Naturelly, it is R&D talents that is intensely craved for the better being of a high technology firm´s growth and development. This paper examines the competition between high technology firms in the talent market based on the Hotelling spatial model. We aim to construct a modified Hotelling spatial model based on some hypotheses to study the impact of the employment cost rate and salary incentive mechanism on the firm´s equilibrium location in the Hotelling model. At last, we focus on the change rule of the equilibrium location affected by the mentioned factors and give some reasonable explanations.
