Abstract :
We propose an access protocol that enables effective radio resource utilization in the road-vehicle communication (RVC) system. The proposed access protocol is based on reservation slotted ALOHA and the dynamic data slot assignment scheme, and thereby improves transmission performances. In the proposed access protocol, a base station broadcasts channel usage information to mobile terminals. Each mobile terminal sends a request packet or data packets according to the information. The base station dynamically assigns data slots to each terminal. In this paper, transmission performances of the proposed access protocol applied to a radio-on-fiber (ROF) based road-vehicle seamless communication system are evaluated by using computer simulations. From the result, it is confirmed that the proposed access protocol improves system capacity compared with the conventional slotted ALOHA protocols
