Abstract :
In 1987, the Electric Power Research Institute sponsored a review of a sample of 25 DCRDR (Detailed Control Room Design Review) reports, one of the aims of which was to develop candidate research programs to address unresolved factor tissues. A total of 4345 HEDs (human engineering deficiencies) were examined and assigned to NUREG-0700 (US Nuclear Regulatory Commission control-room design guidelines) topical headings. Tabulations were made of the significance attached to HEDs by the utilities and plans to resolve specific HEDs. The authors discuss the discuss the development of the candidate research programs.<>
