Abstract :
History should make us very wary of predicting the economic potential of high temperature superconductivity. On the other hand a very substantial amount of money is now being spent on the development of HTS tape and wire by companies who hope to supply the materials for the future superconductivity industry. The author tries to predict the qualities required of HTS tape for it to become a commercially viable product on which to base an industry
