Abstract :
The Human Factors Group at Northeast Utilities (NU) developed a writer´s guide to help personnel improve plant procedures. The human factors group determined that existing writer´s guides did not address the writing problems, and more importantly, did not describe ´how´ to implement guidelines. The new writer´s guide provides instruction on what guidelines to use, and how to interpret them when writing procedures. Instruction is provided on how to gather job-related information so that procedures are accurate and complete, how to organize the information, and how to write procedure steps.<>
