Abstract :
We have developed a 16 channel full add/drop WDM system for long-haul transmission and successfully demonstrated 16 channel 2.5 Gbps transmission over 640 km with single mode fibers and the repeater spacing of 80 km includes optical add/drop multiplexing (OADM). The space between the channels is 100 GHz. We tested the system in a 50/spl deg/C, 80% humidity and in a 0/spl deg/C, 0% environment to measure the wavelength change of the transponder output.
