Abstract :
Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has purchased and installed two state-of-the-art control-room simulators to be used for licensed operator training and qualification. The author describes how the basic principles of FPLs quality improvement program were utilized to ensure that both the machine and training materials were instructor-friendly. The licensed operator instructor was the customer of the simulator. The process used to meet the customer´s valid requirements is described, as well as the hardware and software products selected. The methods used to incorporate the capabilities of the machine into the training are also discussed.<>
