Abstract :
In this study, we consider an order promising problem at parallel machine shop where orders arrive dynamically. We develop a real-time due-date quoting method for the problem. In the method, the inventory status of the shop as well as the various scheduling methods used in the shop are taken into account. The quoting needs to be done very fast for the due-date negotiation between sales managers and customers, thus the proposed method should generate accurate quoting results in a few seconds. The results of the promptly quoted due-dates will be compared with the results of actual completion times of the orders which are obtained from the simulation experiments.
