A turning point in human factors studies

A long-range program to study the part played by human factors in nuclear safety is outlined. The lines of research decided on are centered around two objectives: (1) to take noncognitive processes as well as their impact on the operators cognitive activities into account; (2) to improve the knowledge and understanding of specific group behavior as opposed to industrial behavior. It is concluded that, to this end, it is essential to make use of the knowledge acquired in various branches of social sciences.<>
