This paper examines the relationship between voluntary disclosure of audited internal control reports and internal control quality. The motivation of internal control information disclosure is also discussed. The results indicate that voluntary disclosure of audited internal control reports is not accompanied with higher internal control quality. Besides, we provide evidence indicating that firms with questionable internal control quality have a higher probability to disclose internal control reports. This implies that audited internal control reports may not be reliable, and the cost of useless internal control information is low. Our results indicate that the information content is also very important for voluntary information disclosure.
