  • Abstract
Magnetic and electric compound action signals (CASs) of the human sural nerve were recorded just before a nerve biopsy was carried out. CASs contain information on action potential propagation between stimulus and recording site. Evaluation of fiber diameter distributions (FDDs) computed from measured CAS and FDDs derived from nerve histology could indicate a local nerve pathology that might not be detected from nerve histology alone. Preliminary electrophysiological data and results of the automated analysis of nerve histology are presented
