  • Abstract
    An add-drop multiplexer (ADM) with signal amplification ability, composed of two optical fiber grating couplers (FGCs) and two Er-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs), is proposed and demonstrated for the first time. The ADM can amplify signal lightwaves including dropped and added ones and can effectively remove the pumping lightwaves for EDFAs from the main stream of optical fiber routing.
