Abstract :
In this paper, we cover some radio dimensioning aspects for the downlink in WCDMA systems. Capacity and coverage estimation is conducted in a multiservice context, based on an analytical expression for the total power of the base-station. A definition for the multiservice downlink cell loading is introduced which allows a characterization of downlink multiservice capacity. Influence on the capacity of the traffic mix or of some key parameters like the non-orthogonality factor, soft handover rate, or the portion of power dedicated to broadcast channels is analysed. A downlink-specific link budget is also established, accounting for the mix of traffic in the cell. In this context, a comprehensive downlink dimensioning framework is set up
