  • Abstract
A model of the human cardiovascular system incorporating a cardio-assisting device, namely, an external counter pulsation (ECP) device, has been developed for the purpose of studying the effects of ECP. The models of right heart, left atrium, pulmonary circulation, and all valves in the heart have been added into the previous model developed at Drexel University to make it a more realistic model and predict the effects of ECP with the combined indicators. The mechanism of vessel wall collapse caused by external pressure has been considered. This model can simulate various modes of ECP
