Abstract :
This paper presents a low power transimpedance amplifier (TIA) based on current-reuse technique (CR). Active inductive peaking (AP) is used in addition to current-reuse to extend the bandwidth while keeping the low power consumption. For 2 pF total input capacitance, the post layout simulation shows a transimpedance gain of 60.2 dBΩ and 1 GHz bandwidth for the proposed CR-TIA. The TIA gain is increased to be 61.6 dBΩ and the bandwidth is extended to 2 GHz by employing the new CRAP-TIA. The total input referred noise currents of the CR and CRAP TIAs are 637.7 nArms up to 1.5 GHz and 907.6 nArms up to 2.5 GHz, respectively. The CR and CRAP-TIAs are implemented in 130 nm CMOS technology and consume 2 mA from a 1.5 V supply voltage.
