Abstract :
In this paper several methods to characterisation of the impregnation have been used. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations characterize qualitatively the impregnation of yarn by the presence the cement particulars in the space inter yarn. Porosimetry test: characterization of the impregnation of embedded yarn by measure and compare the pores volume of a sample of mortar containing an embedded yarn and a sample of mortar without yarn. Flow test leading to quantify physical parameters of impregnation as the porosity linked to presence the hemp yarn in cementitious matrix. The mechanical performance of continues hemp yarns determinate from different configurations of impregnation the yarns before casting (i.e. pre-treated, embedded length) for created difference behaviour. The experimental set up also allows recording of the evolution hemp yarn pull-out resistance during the testing. These experimental results are discussed in terms of influence of continuous hemp yarns impregnation on bond characterization and mechanical properties.
