Abstract
Instead of not widely being used, quaternion numbers have allowed the implementation of several image processing tools. One of these tools, the quaternionic Fourier transform, is utilized in this paper to achieve image fusion. Multi-component images are represented as pure quaternions, and a simple way to implement the quaternionic Fourier transform is also presented. The results are well satisfactory and open a way to an extension of the analytic image concept to quaternionic ones.
